R.I.P. metacomments

The guardians of civility and integrity in the blogosphere harassed Thersites and his wife so badly that he shut down his old blog, in order to keep pictures of his children out of the hands of Jeff Goldstein's mongrel horde. One of them had commented that his one-year old daughter had "dick-sucking lips," for starters.

Fortunately, Thers will keep writing and mocking right-wing idiocy. But it's unfortunate that an otherwise intelligent and decent man has to keep his personal life so anonymous, because the high-minded William F. Buckley wannabes enjoy making a sport of intimidation and harassment.
